Job Requirements
Dominion's Millstone Power Station is currently searching for Nuclear Generation Test Services
Technician candidates. This is the first level job in a 2 level series job.
Job duties include:

Tests, calibrates, troubleshoots and/or repairs a variety of electrical equipment in
substations and power plants (e.g. basic protective relays, transfer trip tone and relaying,
electric machines, power/control transformers, metering, transducers, power inverters,
regulating transformers, switchgear, motor generators, emergency generators, automatic









sequence and electrical parameter monitor and control systems, synchronizing equipment
and generator excitation equipment).
Performs high voltage insulation testing of all applicable production plant equipment
(e.g. large power and distribution transformers, large motors and station generators)
documents results, evaluates and makes recommendations for initial or continued
energization.
Performs functional verification tests of nuclear plant protective relaying schemes, and
for control and instrumentation schemes.
Analyzes symptoms on a variety of electrical control schemes/equipment/systems.
Analyzes and corrects/recommends corrections to a wide variety of design drawings
related to installation or modifications of electrical equipment or control schemes.
Participates in self-assessments and prompt adequate resolution of identified department
issues.
Responsible for receiving, informing, and giving information in a timely manner related
to issues such as safe work practices, work schedules or delays, errors not readily
apparent or easy to detect, and non-compliance to procedures, and work processes or
procedures that could improve performance or reduce costs.
Performs activities related to support personnel including vendors.
Performs installation and periodic testing of fault recorders and sequence of events
recorders.
Maintains control print files, relay test records, test procedures, methods, and service
advisories.
Successfully completed the Naval Nuclear Propulsion training program and possess a minimum
of 4 years experience in one of the following disciplines; EM or ET
OR
Commercial nuclear station experience and possess a minimum of 2 years of directly related
skills and 1 yr technical training.
Additional requirements include:






Meet all applicable ANSI Standards.
This level requires a minimum of two years work experience as a controls technician,
with work experience in a nuclear power plant, fossil or hydro plant.
Must have full knowledge of electrical or electronics engineering technology practices to
support electrical work required.
Working knowledge of plant systems and their functions pertinent to plant administrative
requirements.
Demonstrates skill in performing the responsibilities and tasks of the position to
accurately read, interpret, and comply with company/department procedures, provide
attention to detail, and interpret complex wiring diagrams and blueprints.
Demonstrated skill in use of mechanical tools, and performing skilled electrical work in
the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of nuclear power plant
equipment.


Applies full knowledge of electrical skills to adapt process, tools, equipment and
techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
Position requires maintaining unescorted plant access qualification, maintaining enclosed
volume and radiation worker qualifications, maintaining Station Emergency Response
Organization
Perferred Qualifications:



Relay testing and timer experience
Experience with voltage regulators
Experience with diesel controls
This position is subject to recruitment into the Station Emergency Response Organization
(SERO). The successful candidate should reside in the area of the station such that they
are typically capable of staffing the station (or assigned emergency response facility) within
60 minutes.
