About Us: We are an environmental design, planning and installation firm.
Our Mission: Restore and protect resilient native landscapes, to educate the public about ecological
restoration, and to work with existing natural resources and conditions.
WHR is a collaborative, team-oriented work environment that emphasizes inclusion of diverse ideas,
solutions and beliefs. The Land Management Coordinator will be responsible for the management phase
of all environmental installation projects. The LMC will schedule, oversee and implement management
work on a variety of projects in several diverse plant communities in urban and rural settings.
Mandatory Qualifications:
•
5-7+ years of invasive weed control, land management, and/or ecological restoration installation
experience through mechanical (brush cutters, hand removal, flail mowing), and chemical (herbicide
treatments, spot spraying, cool season over-sprays).
•
2-5+ years experience as foreman or leading and mentoring crews on land management and/or
ecological restoration installation projects. Must possess leadership abilities as well as knowledge and
experience successfully implementing projects in the field.
•
Proven ability and experience mentoring field crew with safety, tool maintenance, plant ID, field
problem solving, restoration techniques and methodologies.
•
Have experience working with culturally diverse populations
•
Overseeing employee hiring, reviews and discipline
•
Ability to ID and differentiate herbaceous and woody plant species by growth characteristics
(family), and habitat.
•
Experience reporting, monitoring, and record keeping
•
Experience estimating/bidding land management projects such as controlled burning, buckthorn
removal and invasive species removal projects, seeding, and animal husbandry/grazing and haying
projects
•
Must have a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
•
Experience with heavy machinery (tractor, skid loaders, excavators)
•
S/130, S/190 controlled burn training
•
Commercial Herbicide Applicators License, Categories A, E, and J
•
ISA Certified Arborist
•
Knowledge of Microsoft office products (Xcel, Word, Powerpoint) and Adobe Suites (Photoshop,
Illustrator, etc.)
General Expectations:
•
Work weeks will be 40-50 hrs on average.
•
Starting wages vary based on experience but in the $18-22/hour or salaried $38,000-$46,000
•
Weekends will sometimes be better work days and WHR expects flexibility with scheduling
during poor weather.
•
Be at work before crews (6:30 am) to schedule & handle day to day logistics &mobilization
issues
•
Work days will begin and end at WHR central headquarters in Minneapolis, MN
•
