I will study a supply chain network instance as my term project. In a supply chain network,
the stores and suppliers of a specific product are represented as nodes. A supplier can also be
store and vice versa. There is a link between two nodes if the corresponding store/supplier
gets products from the corresponding store/supplier.
As a foresight, I expect this network to show scale-free characteristics. Most probably, there
will be a very small number of nodes (one or two) which have a big number of outgoing links.
These nodes represent the main factory/factories of the product. Most of the nodes will be
end-stores, which do not sell product to other stores but only to users, must have small
number of edges, expectedly one or two.
I will try to find the degree distribution of the network and determine whether a supply chain
network is scale free or not.
The supply chain network instance I plan to study is the Mercedes Benz supply chain in
Turkey, which I think to have a few hundreds of nodes. The instance may be subject to
change due to the difficulties in obtaining training data.
