EMC VALUES IN ACTION PROGRAM
The idea grew out of Egypt Center of Excellence Innolamp initiative, the COE’s primary program for instilling an
innovation culture. Over the past years, Innolamp has provided many benefits including greater visibility for
employees, a showcase of passion and talents, and differentiation in a competitive environment.
Building on the great success Innolamp has achieved, we needed to ensure that the culture we are building
reflects ‘EMC Core Values’. As Egypt COE continues to grow, embracing and living the same set of corporate
values ensures consistency in performance. It is equally important that our customers, business partners,
and any entity we interact with see & feel our culture and values during our interaction with them.
“I believe that by embracing EMC core values, Egypt COE exceeds service expectations, fulfills its mission, and
conducts business with integrity and purpose. That's why living these EMC values was a key focus area and
differentiator to the center strategy,” says Magued Mahmoud, General Manager, EMC Egypt Center of
Excellence.
Egypt COE “Champions” delivered Values in Action mini-sessions to their fellow employees. Champions are a
team of volunteering employees, selected by the Program Manager and employee’s direct manager, who have
as their primary responsibility acting as role models for divining the innovation culture and transferring
internal knowledge.
Champions used videos, games, presentations, and other tools to communicate the attributes of the value
and make the workshops interactive and fun. At the end of each session, attendees wrote down an action item
related to the values, logged onto Innolamp, and submitted their proposed follow-up activities.
Employees who attended all six of the mini-sessions received an “Ambassador of EMC Values” certificate,
which illustrated the exemplary EMC attitudes and behaviors that every employee should emulate. Even
those who didn’t attend the sessions were made aware of the program through an extensive internal
marketing campaign.
The feedback and level of interest the program received from around the globe has been phenomenal!
Why EMC Values in Action Program?
 Ensure that all EMC employees are living EMC DNA; changing the way employees think, act, and work to
match our core values.
 Create awareness of the importance of core values in relation to innovation.
 Think of new ways to be innovative in applying core values to our daily work to build our innovation culture.
 Define who we are, and how we want to be seen by others. It’s our BRAND.
