Aims and Scope
The BBA Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids section publishes papers on original research dealing with novel aspects of molecular genetics
related to the lipidome, the biosynthesis of lipids, the role of lipids in cells and whole organisms, the regulation of lipid metabolism and
function, and lipidomics in all organisms. Manuscripts should significantly advance the understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying biological processes in which lipids are involved. Papers detailing novel methodology must report significant biochemical, molecular, or
functional insight in the area of lipids.
Regular papers and reviews are considered for publication.
BBA – Publication schedule for 2014

Submission
It is a condition of publication that all manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatical English and be submitted to the Biochimica et
Biophysica Acta – Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids Web site at http://ees.elsevier.com/bbalip. Minimal exceptions will be allowed. If you are
unable to provide an electronic version of your paper, please contact the Editorial Office prior to submission (e-mail: [email protected]).
Reviews on timely topics are considered for publication. Prospective authors of reviews should send a presubmission enquiry with key references
to the Editorial Office. Color figures in reviews are published free of charge.
For detailed instructions on the preparation of electronic artwork, please visit http://www.elsevier.com/artworkinstructions.
Language (Usage and Editing services). Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of
these). Authors who feel their English language manuscript may require editing to eliminate possible grammatical or spelling errors and to
conform to correct scientific English may wish to use the English Language Editing service available from Elsevier’s WebShop http://webshop.
elsevier.com/languageediting/ or visit our customer support site http://support.elsevier.com for more information.
Contact details for questions arising after acceptance of an article, especially those relating to proofs, are provided after registration of an article
for publication.
For a full and complete Guide for Authors, please

Color figures
Color figures are published free online, and published in printed issues at the author’s expense.
Illustration services
Elsevier’s WebShop (http://webshop.elsevier.com/illustrationservices) offers Illustration Services to authors preparing to submit a manuscript
but concerned about the quality of the images accompanying their article. Elsevier’s expert illustrators can produce scientific, technical and
medical-style images, as well as a full range of charts, tables and graphs. Image ‘polishing’ is also available, where our illustrators take your
image(s) and improve them to a professional standard. Please visit the website to find out more.
BBA has no page charges. The corresponding author, at no cost, will be provided with a PDF file of the article via e-mail.
The PDF file is a watermarked version of the published article and includes a cover sheet with the journal cover image and
a disclaimer outlining the terms and conditions of use.
