Short CVs of lecturers
•
T. Hamacher, TUM: Food and energy – An introduction
T. Hamacher (b.1964) conducts research on energy and systems analysis, focusing on urban
energy systems, the integration of renewable energy into the power grid, and innovative nuclear
systems (including fusion). Other focuses of his work are the methods and fundamentals of energy models. T. Hamacher studied physics in Bonn and Aachen, did his Ph.D. in particle physics
at DESY in Hamburg. After positions at the UT Austin in Texas and the Max-Planck-Institute for
Plasmaphysics T. Hamacher joined the TU München in the year 2010.
•
U. Kulozik, TUM: “Processing for food preservation and processing alternatives with reduced
energy demand”
U. Kulozik has studied Food Engineering and Technology at the TUM. After his doctorals and
habilitation studies he joined Kraft Foods R&D (today Mondelez) for 8 years. Since 2000, he has
been Professor for Food and Bioprocess Engineering. His main research interests are in separation and fractionation techniques, concentration and drying methods, structure engineering in
complex food systems and thermal processing for food preservation and chemical/heat treatment for sanitation of surfaces in food manufacture.
•
M. Grunow, TUM: “Energy efficient food production technology in a supply chain context”
Martin Grunow is a professor of production and supply chain management at Technical University of Munich. He is also an adjunct professor at Technical University of Denmark, where he
previously was a department head. He received his industrial engineering degree and his PhD
from Technical University Berlin before joining the R&D department of Evonik Degussa, a producer of special chemicals. His research interests are in manufacturing and logistics with a focus
on the food industry, the semiconductor, and the automotive sector.
•
A.B.M. Firoz. ITT, TH-Köln:
A.B.M Firoz is a researcher at the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the
Tropics and Subtropics (ITT) at TH Köln. He is a specialist in River Basin Management Modelling
and Hydrogeological Models. He has worked on a wide variety of hydrological and hydrogeological issues around the world. For more than six years he worked in water management projects
in Vietnam and Bangladesh for ITT. His special interests are the development and management
of groundwater resources, basin scale hydrological and hydrogeological modeling and the management of water resources at river basin scale including reservoir modelling and irrigation water
management.
