Senate Briefing: The Economic, Climate, Fiscal, Power, and
Demographic Impact of a National Fee-And-Dividend Carbon Tax.
We invite you and your staff to attend a closed briefing presented by Regional
Economic Models, Inc. (REMI) that examines the merits of a revenue-neutral fee and
dividend plan to price carbon and build a more secure and advanced energy future.
Until now, the general assumption has been that pricing carbon will have a negative
impact on our economy. A study conducted by REMI and released in June, however,
found that a fee on carbon would actually stimulate millions of additional jobs,
provided the revenue from that fee is returned to households.
At a briefing to be held on November 19, REMI Senior Economic Associate Scott
Nystrom will present the findings from the study, explain how the study was
conducted and answer questions.
Since 1980, REMI has provided economic impact studies for governmental and
private-sector clients, including the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), consulting
firms Booz Allen Hamilton and Ernst & Young, the Korea Energy Economics Institute
(KEEI), Sandia National Laboratory (SNL), the California Department of Finance, the
University of Michigan and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
Please join us for an informative session that is sure to stimulate discussion about a
policy to address one of the more vexing problems of our time.
