PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Eight-inch, thermally protected, square HID downlight rated for use with one ED17 light
source.

CONSTRUCTION
Plaster Frame
Plated steel frame painted gloss white, with tabs for holding bar hangers. Opening provided for
enclosure has lip extending 1/2" below the plane of the securement bracket. Junction box
secured to plaster frame by four tabs. Steel clip holds the junction box covers in place.
Housing
Housing is aluminum. Top of the housing is softened and shallow pyramid shape 7" across
extending down the rounded corners, and widening to 8-1/2" at the bottom. Cutouts provided
to insert springs from lensed trims. Housing is secured to plaster frame by enclosure
securement tabs and three sheet metal screws.
Clearance
Non-IC housings require 3" from thermal insulation and 1/2" from any combustive material.
Bar Hangers
Two 13-3/4" to 24-1/2" adjustable bar hangers with nails are included on frame. Bar hangers
are parallel to junction box, but can be repositioned 90˚ perpendicular to junction box if
desired. Bar hanger foot contoured to align to bottom of construction joist. A T-Bar notch allow
for easy installation in a suspended ceiling.
ELECTRICAL
Ballast
Electronic type, thermally protected, rated for 120/277V. Mounted to the inside of the junction
box cover.

Junction Box
Plaster frame integrated 25 cubic inch junction box .060" thick galvanized
steel, with seven 7/8" knockouts, four Romex® connecting pryouts. All
electrical leads are #18AWG wire, the ground wire is connected to the
bottom, and quick connectors are supplied on all leads. Through branch
circuit wiring, (4-in, 4-out).
Thermal Protector
Standard UL thermal protector rated for 90°C is affixed to interior vertical
side surface of fixture housing adjacent to socket.
Lamp
50 or 70W ED17 lamp (ordered separately).
Trim
Steel square shaped, painted white trim. Available with Albalite, Fresnel or
Prismatic lens. (Ordered Separately)

Socket
