Prayer of the Church
Seventh Sunday after Trinity
30 July 2017
Let us pray to our compassionate God, who has promised to hear us when we pray and to give us all
good things.
Brief silence
For this congregation, that we would grow in faith toward God and love toward each other, let us pray
to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For all pastors and church workers, that they would be diligent in their labors and faithful in their tasks,
let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For Donald, our president; for _______________, our governor; and for all those God-given authorities
in this world, that they would be kept safe and given wisdom to fulfill their vocations, let us pray to the
Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For the fruitfulness of the earth, that all people would receive their food in due season, let us pray to the
Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For all who labor, that they would have joy in their vocations, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have
mercy.
For all who are unemployed or underemployed, that they would be given opportunities to support their
families and serve their neighbors, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For the disabled, for the aged and for the infirm, that they would be cared for and know love and
compassion, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
For those who are suffering from illness, [including our brothers and sisters _______________,] that
they would know the peace of Christ even in the midst of suffering, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have
mercy.
For those who are facing trials and temptations, that they would be uplifted by God’s Word and Holy
Sacrament, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, have mercy.
O Lord God, heavenly Father, out of Your goodness You provide for all the needs of our body and soul;
indeed You have given Your Son, Christ Jesus, to win for us everlasting life. Grant us Your Spirit, that
we may be called, gathered, enlightened and sanctified in Your Church with all the saints in light, even
until we see the hopes of eternal life realized in the resurrection of our bodies and the life of the world
to come, where we will ever worship and praise You, with Your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now
and forever. Amen.
