The answers are not expected to represent a firm commitment, the objective is to enable an
overall estimate to be made before the Malta meeting.
Details of Sections Congress and the expected hotel costs, etc. are in my Sections Congress
Update document which may be downloaded from the Committee documents pages of the R8
Website (also see Agenda Book documents for the Malta meeting).
Reminder:
A Sections Congress Planning Discussion is scheduled for the afternoon of Friday 25th April
in Malta – all R8 Section Chairs are very strongly encouraged to attend. The main business
will be for the R8 Section Chairs to discuss issues of interest to R8 and their Sections which
may be taken to Sections Congress, and to arrive at proposals which have a reasonable
prospect of getting into the final Sections Congress recommendations.

1. How many SC'08 participants do you expect to be able to support from your Section

Note that the Registration fee of $US 400 must be paid for all except Primary Delegates (one
per Section)
2. The Sections Congress organisers recommend that the Primary Delegate should be someone
who has never before attended a Sections Congress, and preferably should be a young or
GOLD member.

4. Financial support for some of the SC’08 delegates might be provided from the R8 budget,
although this seems unlikely for those who are not either members of the R8 Committee or
those attending as substitutes for the Section Chair in cases where the Section Chair cannot
attend.

Priority is expected to go to the Sections with the lowest reserves and/or highest expected
travel costs. To assist with planning, give the names and IEEE positions of those for whom you
request support.

You are advised to plan on the assumption that this support is unlikely to be available.
However, it is partly dependent upon decisions which the R8 Committee might make in Malta

Additional delegates who are NOT GOLD or GSM, selected by R8 Sections
Some of the above may be supported from R8 finances. The Regional Activities Board (now
Member and Geographical Activities Board) provided R8 with additional money to help pay
for Sections Congress attendance, but it is not sufficient to cover all needs without significant
support from Section Finances.
To indicate the priority which you attach to each category, indicate this importance against
each one (by inserting the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 integers in the fields to the left to denote decreasing
order of priority). Thus, place a 1 against the category which you think should have the highest
priority.
