What is Congestive Heart Failure? The heart is a powerful muscle that pumps blood to all parts of the body. This is called “edema.” • Body does not get enough blood, oxygen or nutrients. ______________________________________________________________________________________ What are the signs? • Shortness of breath when lying down or flat • Difficulty breathing that worsens. • Coughing or wheezing. • Sudden weight gain from fluid buildup. • Swelling (edema) in feet, ankles, legs or abdomen. • Confusion or can not think clearly. • Tired, run-down feeling, fatigue. ______________________________________________________________________________________ What can I do?
