Natural Resources A PowerPoint Presentation by McMullen Co. Elementary 2nd Grade Students Scroll down to view all pages Wildlife by Marc When the world was formed man along with lots of animals, trees, birds and plants were there. So some governments and people have joined together to protect whatever animals, nature, birds, fish were left in the wild. Generations ago, most of the world relied on this wildlife to sustain human life. Fewer and fewer communities rely on hunting and fishing. Wildlife can be found in all ecosystems, Deserts, rainforests, plains, and other areas. A wild animal is one that lives entirely without care of man. Rocks by Makinna Some rock are made from others. Rock tell stories of long ago. Big rocks are called boulders. Fire-made rock are called igneous rocks. Some rocks are made under water. Some rocks are made out of mud. Rock which are made from other rocks are called metamorphic rock. Air and Wind by Cheyene Air is the mixture of gases, mainly nitrogen and oxygen, that forms the Earth’s atmosphere. Some times air is hot and moist. You can hear escaping from a tire. The air that is all around us is a mixture of gases. Only oxygen is used by your body as it is found in the air. Trees by Levi The oxygen we breath is released by trees. Trees prevent erosion. Trees Provide food shelter and material for Animals and man. A tree is a plant. As long as a tree lives it never stops growing. A tree is the largest plant In the world.wood is made in to paper. Trees give us fruit and flowers. Water by Krislyn The earth has a limited amount of water. The amount of water on Earth hasn’t ever changed. That water keeps going around and around. There is water in the air you are breathing. It takes about one million tiny water droplets to make just one raindrop. Today men build machines which turn the great power of water into electricity. Soil by Charlsie Near the surface of Earth, the heat of summer makes rocks expand, and the cold of winter makes them shrink. Soil is really the most important part of the earth’s crust. Without soil we could not live on this planet. Most people live only where there is soil. Soil is made of small pieces of rock and the decayed remains of dead organisms. It takes thousands of years for natural processes to break rocks into small pieces that make up soil. Coal and Oil by Lawson Oil and gas, along with coal are known as fossil fuels. This is because they were formed from fossils, the remains of plants and animals that lived long ago. Today coal lies in the ground in layers calls seams. Coal was formed about 300 million years ago. Today machines dig most of coal from the tunnel walls. When natural gas of oil comes from a well they are impure. Oil and gas provide hundreds of goods and services you use every day.
