Geometry Vocabulary Unit 2 PLEASE COPY Angle: given two intersecting lines or line segments, the amount of rotation about the point of intersection (the vertex) Complimentary Angle: complementary angles are two angles whose sum is 90 degrees Supplementary Angle: two angles are said to be supplementary if their sum is 180 degrees Adjacent: two angles in the same plane that have a common vertex and a common side, but no common interior points. Vertical: two nonadjacent angles formed by intersecting lines or segments. Also called opposite angles Congruent: figures having the same size and shape Parallel Line: two lines that do not intersect Triangle: a three sided polygon Transversal: a line that intersects two or more lines Corresponding Angles: angles that have the same relative positions in geometric figures Vertex: The common endpoint of two line segments that serve as two sides of a polygon
