Changing words!
It is helpful to learn rules that help you spell many words.
Suffixes usually change a noun into a verb or an adjective into an
adverb.
Most suffixes are just added but watch out for words ending in
‘y’, these need to change into an ‘i’ before adding the suffix.
Add the suffix –ship, -ment, - hood or –ness to these words:
1. Owner
2. Child
3. Mother
4. Enjoy
5. Lovely
6. Fellow
7. Knight
8. Replace
9. Kind
10. Foolish
Ownership
Knighthood
Add the correct suffix to the words above
(ship, ment, hood or ness) then copy then practice
the word.
Teach this rule to someone at home!
Use them this week in your writing when you want to
change the meaning of the root word.
