The first production of the season is the beloved classic tale of pirates and swashbuckling adventure, “Treasure Island.” Based on the Robert Louis Stevenson novel, this Magik Theatre production tells the classic tale of buccaneers and buried gold. Sail aboard the HMS Hispaniola with young Jim Hawkins for a daring adventure. In a conflict between good and evil, Jim courageously faces danger, learns that evil can masquerade as good, and matures from a boy into manhood. Join him, the good doctor, the squire, sinister Blind Pew, marooned Ben Gunn, the infamous Long John Silver and a colorful crew of buccaneers for this exciting musical adventure. This performance is produced by The Magik Theatre: On the Road from San Antonio, Texas. This outstanding children’s theatre company only produces plays that are based on books children were reading in schools. It is what sets them apart from many other companies. And this philosophy jives perfectly with the mission of Over the Moon Family Theater in only bringing productions to the Pikes Peak region that are literacybased. The addition of a full time Music Director at The Magik Theatre ensures that all of their productions were enriched with music. The November 7 production of “Treasure Island” will be no different in these respects, which will make it a rousing and memorable performance for the audience. Like each show in the Over the Moon Family Theater season, “Treasure Island” is a special Imagination Experience with families encouraged to don their favorite jammies or -more- 1515 North Academy Boulevard, Suite 200 ● Colorado Springs, CO 80829 ● T: 719-597-3344 ● F: 719-597-3343 ● www.imaginationcelebration.org (2) “Treasure Island” Launches New Season pirate-appropriate costumes and join together at 6:00 pm, one hour before “Treasure Island” showtime, in the Pikes Peak Center lobby to engage in family fun.
