HOMEWORK – Preposition Practice and Practice with the Irregular, Linking Verb SUM
Translate the following into Latin.
1. I am a farmer
2. He is a poet
3. She is the queen
4. We are in the house
5. You (s.) are behind the gate
6. You (pl.) are with the girls in the house
7. We are across the road near the forest
8. The girl is across the road near the forest
9. The farmers are not in the house (non=not)
10. The letter is about the queen’s family
11. The stories of the poets are about sailors
12. We are walking across the lands
13. The women are standing near the house.
14. You (pl.) are walking out of the house
15. I am sailing away from Italy.
Re-read your notes form class. Now, go back to numbers 12-15 and check your work. If
you used a form of sum in these sentences it is WRONG. These are ACTION verbs and
DO NOT need a form of sum. Make any necessary corrections.
Re-read your notes check #1,2,3. What case did you put farmer, poet and queen in? If it is
nominative you did it correctly. If you used accusative, you need to change it. These are
examples of the PREDICATE NOMINATIVE.
If you have followed the instructions and you have re-read your notes and thought about
the work and re-did any parts that needed corrections, you have put in the necessary
