b. 1678 (VENICE, ITALY)
d. 1741 (VIENNA, AUSTRIA)
 - became a priest in 1703
 - nicknamed, “the red priest”
 - Later, he became a music teacher at a girls’ school/orphanage. He wrote lots of music for the
schoolgirls’ concerts.
German composers, including Bach, imitated his music!

 Clues: 1) melody in high notes, steady pulse in low notes; 2) perhaps you’ve heard this on a tv
commercial, or someone’s cell phone ring, etc.
 Movement Four:
Winter
clues: 1) begins soft, steady, icy cold; 2) a very fast, exciting violin solo
