The effect of a geographic location on the weather that the
prevailing winds control.
- 1. Ocean – warm moist air – water vapor – wind
- 2. Mountain range forces moist air to rise and cool,
forming clouds and causing precipitation
- 3. Cool moist climate, abundant vegetation
- 4. Descending air has lost its moisture
- 5. Warm, dry climate, little vegetation
Radiant energy and thermal energy.
- 1. Sunlight (radiant energy) warms the sand
(molecules start to move and heat up)
- 2. Thermal energy increases
- 3. Different substances absorb energy and cool at
different rates.
- 4. Dark objects absorb faster and cool faster.
- 5.
Land heats up quicker than water.
6. Land is warmer than water = low pressure
Water is still colder = high pressure
Air will flow from high to low pressure
WIND IS CAUSED BY THE UNEVEN
HEATING OF THE EARTH
