How long do I wear the device?
The device should be left on for the period of time recommended by your
treating clinician. This will vary according to each patient. The device
is designed to run for 120 hours (five days). It will turn on and off every
two hours. The device should be professionally removed and properly
disposed. Please discuss safe and effective options with your provider.
How many treatments will I need?
Treatment length of time may vary. In some circumstances only one
treatment is needed while in others multiple treatments may be required.
Length of treatment varies according to your treatment needs and goals.
Your treatment provider will reevaluate you at each appointment and will
discuss your progress.
How soon will I see results from the treatment?
Often patients receive benefits after one or two treatments. However, this
depends on the patient and their particular situation, the amount and type
of medications prescribed, how long the symptoms have persisted, etc..
Be sure and discuss all medications you are taking including
over-the-counter medications, vitamins, herbs, and minerals.
Once I feel the benefit of the treatment, how long will relief last?
Relief is often residual and cumulative which means it often lasts longer
with each treatment. Each person has their own individual response and
this should be discussed with your provider.
If I begin to feel better can I discontinue my pain medications ?
Do not discontinue any medications without first discussing it with your
treating clinician and/or the physician who prescribing your medications.
How do I keep from getting the device wet when showering ?
Holding a dry washcloth over the device while showering or washing
your hair works very well. We’ve also had patients tell us they use a small
empty margarine bowl with a dry cloth inside to hold over the device.
Are there any side effects ?
Although extremely rare, there may be some side effects which may
include:
• Skin irritation
• Bleeding or infection at the site of implantation
• Pain at the site of implantation
• A sore ear
• Allergic reactions to the tape and adhesive
• An increase in symptoms
• No reduction in symptoms
• Dizziness
• Fainting
If you experience any of these symptoms report them immediately to your
treating clinician.
What if the harness becomes disconnected from the body of the
device ?
This has never happened while a patient was wearing the device but if it
should happen, do not reconnect. Call your treating clinician.

What if my pain returns?
Remember, the treatment is a safe and effective management tool for
your pain. It is not unusual for your pain to come and go, this is normal.
You will be reevaluated with each treatment in order to formulate a treatment plan to give you the best long term results.
What if I don’t feel the pulsing? Should I take the device off?
No. Your body will become attenuated or used to the pulsing so you may
not always feel it. Also it runs in cycles, just because you don’t feel it
does NOT mean it isn’t working. If a second device is placed it is normal
not to feel the tapping or pulsing like you did on the first one. Each device
is pre-tested to make sure it is working before it is placed. If you have any
questions call your provider and discuss this with them.
What if my ear starts hurting during treatment?
On rare occasions a patient may feel a stinging sensation where the
electrodes are implanted. This is only a sensation and you will not get
burned. If this happens, a gentle squeeze with your fingers will help take
care of the problem. If you try this and the pain continues please call your
treatment provider.
Are there any normal precautions?
Yes. You need to take special care to not get the device wet while showering or washing your hair. Do not go swimming with the device in place.
Do not immerse in water. It is an extremely safe, low voltage electronic
device that will simply stop working if the batteries get wet.
And NO, you won’t get shocked if it gets wet.

Once the device treatment is over what do I do with the device?
Place the device in waste bag provided by your treating clinician. Be sure
to bring the waste bag containing the used device with you to your next
treatment date. The clinician will properly dispose of it.
We hope we have addressed any questions you may have about
your treatment and what to expect. If you have any further questions
please to be sure to ask your healthcare provider.
