21 January 2014 The British Institute of Radiology appoints Dr David Wilson as new President-Elect Dr David Wilson, Honorary Consultant Radiologist, Oxford University Hospital Trust has formally accepted the post of President-Elect of the British Institute of Radiology (BIR). Dr Wilson, who is currently Vice President (Education), will serve as the President-Elect before becoming President of the BIR from September 2014, when the current President, Professor Andrew Jones, ends his twoyear term of office. Dr Wilson was formally proposed and elected as the Council nomination for President at the Council meeting on 11 December 2013. Professor Andrew Jones said “David’s vast clinical knowledge, combined with his experience, energy and enthusiasm for education at the BIR makes him an ideal candidate to guide the BIR through the next stage of our strategic aims. This new post of President-Elect will enable him to prepare for two years of leadership of the Council of Trustees.” Dr Wilson said, “I have been a member of the BIR for over thirty years and am delighted and honoured to be taking up the post as President at such an exciting time of development and innovation for the BIR.” His primary interest is in the application of modern imaging techniques to disorders of the locomotors system. He has undertaken original work in the application of diagnostic ultrasound to joint, muscle and soft tissue disease with particular attention to joint effusion and congenital dysplasia of the hip. Dr Wilson has previously held the positions of Commissioning Editor British Journal Radiology 2011 – 2012 Deputy Editor British Journal Radiology 2012 – 2013.
