Milk mustaches look
good on everyone!
An 8 ounce serving of milk, gives you as much…
Calcium as 10 cups of raw spinach.
Calcium helps build and maintain strong bones
and teeth.
Vitamin D as ¾ ounce of cooked salmon.
Vitamin D helps promote the absorption of calcium
and enhances bone mineralization.
Protein as 1 ½ medium eggs.
Protein builds and repairs muscle tissue.
Potassium as 1 small banana.
Potassium regulates the body’s fluid balance
and helps maintain normal blood pressure.
Vitamin A as ¾ cup of broccoli.
Vitamin A helps maintain normal vision and skin.
It also helps regulate cell growth and maintains
the immune system.
An 8 ounce serving of milk, gives you as much…
Vitamin B-12 as 3 ounces of turkey.
Vitamin B-12 helps build red blood cells that
carry oxygen from the lungs to working muscles.
Riboflavin as 1/3 cup of whole almonds.
Riboflavin helps change food into energy – a
process important for exercising muscles.
Niacin as 10 cherry tomatoes.
Niacin is important for the normal function of
many enzymes in the body, and is involved in
the break down of sugars and fatty acids.
Phosphorus as 1 cup of kidney beans.
Phosphorus helps strengthen bones and
makes energy in your body’s cells.
Empty.

Procedures for Meals in the
Cafeteria

May vary depending
on school
Things to think about:

Dismissal Process –
One table at a time?

Set up – Preferable to
have carton recycling
station before normal
waste station?
Role of Student Helpers

Guide students through
Drink, Empty, Recycle
Procedure

Clean up small spills
and tell School Nutrition
Staff when bucket is full
What else can we recycle?
Paper boats and aluminum pre-pack containers can be
recycled if food is scrapped into the garbage beforehand.
What is not recyclable?
Plastic pre-pack containers, sporks, portion cups, food wrappers,
and straws are made out of #6 plastic which is NOT recyclable.
