Biography
A strategic problem solver and marketing
innovator, Joseph (Joe) P. Grace has helped
develop a “Who’s Who” of brands in the health
information and products industries on a
world-class scale.
His impressive portfolio, which spans 20 years of healthcare marketing, includes the introduction, positioning and
growth of such name-brand companies as WebMD, NV
Perricone Cosmeceuticals, Ebewe Pharma – a Division of
Novartis, and Suzanne Somers’ ThighMaster, where he
is credited as the genius behind Ovation/Body Solutions’
groundbreaking infomercial.
Legendary as a pioneer in eHealth and DTC marketing of
health and wellness products and information, Grace is
the premier go-to marketer for start-up and turnaround
companies in these highly competitive arenas. His creativity
and depth of marketing experience cover an impressive
range of novel health and technology products, including
over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, anti-aging skincare
regimens, dietary supplements and weight loss products.
Hand-in-hand with his proven marketing abilities, he has
honed his skills in navigating the overarching FDA/FTC
regulatory systems.
In 1990, following a successful career as the founding
president of Regency Films, a feature film production
and distribution company to major Hollywood studios,
Grace co-founded a Television Direct Marketing (DRTV)
company. His seamless transition into the then fledgling
industry capitalized both on his keen ability to tell great
stories about great products through infomercials, as
well as on his extensive Hollywood celebrity connections.
His company, Ovation Communications, launched DRTV
to build mass-market brands and create pull-through
retail demand. His marquee project, Suzanne Somers’
ThighMaster infomercial, generated $100 million in sales in
the first year and helped launch a new marketing genre.

Grace has been on the cutting edge of online marketing
as well. As the Head of Online Marketing at WebMD, he
“stopped the bleeding” on a company losing $100 million
per year, growing traffic and membership to record levels
and establishing WebMD as the #1 source for eHealth on
the Internet. He also built and managed WebMD’s first
eCommerce programs, including the WebMD Weight Loss
Clinic.
As the founder of Health Marketing Partners, Grace has
developed and managed effective, performance-based
marketing solutions for a broad range of companies
with innovative consumer health products. He has also
consulted with Private Equity Firms on such health industry
transactions as the spin-off of four orphan consumer health
brands by GlaxoSmithKlein, and the sale of Physician’s
Desk Reference, UpToDate and WebMD’s Little Blue
Book. He has provided interim CEO and CMO services
to companies in transition as well as to Private Equity and
Venture Capital portfolio companies.
Grace, an MBA from Cornell University Johnson School
of Business Administration, is one of 12 alumni invited
to work with the faculty and students of the school’s
prestigious Entrepreneurship Program. He advises and
faculty students how to “bootstrap” their new businesses
through highly efficient marketing strategies. “This country
