Since 2000 professor of cardiology with Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance
Imaging (CMR) as special field of interest. Early research work included studies on
LV function and remodeling after myocardial infarction, and CMR flow
measurements of coronary arteries and bypass grafts. Later work focused on
assessment of reperfusion injury and viability in ischemic heart disease using MRI
contrast media, prediction of response to cardiac resynchronization therapy using
CMR tissue tagging, and imaging of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy. Currently, the
use of cardiac CT and PET in coronary artery disease and cardiomyopathy is also
being explored.
