Philadelphia’s Wills Eye Institute Named for
Ophthalmology in
U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals Issue
July 15, 2010 Wills Eye Institute has been ranked as one of the nation’s top
three centers for Ophthalmology by U. S. News & World Report’s 2010-2011
America’s Best Hospitals issue, released today. Wills is number one in eye care in
the Greater Philadelphia Region. This marks the 21st consecutive year that Wills
Eye has earned distinction on the prestigious list since the survey began in 1990.
Julia A. Haller, MD, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief, said, “It is gratifying to see
Wills Eye, once again, recognized for our leadership position in eye care. Thanks
to our skilled, dedicated and compassionate physicians and staff, the exceptional
care at Wills continues to reflect our tradition of excellence and commitment to

Established in 1832, Wills Eye is the nation’s oldest eye care facility and is
recognized as a world-class leader in the field of ophthalmology. Its resident and
post-graduate training programs are among the most competitive in the country.
Wills Eye Institute provides the full range of primary and subspecialty eye
care including cataract, cornea, retina and glaucoma treatment, neuroophthalmology, oculoplastics, ocular oncology, pathology, pediatric
ophthalmology and refractive surgery. Ocular services include the Wills Laser
Vision Correction Center, Low Vision Service and a 24 Hour Emergency Service
open 365 days a year. Wills Eye also includes a network of multi-specialty
ambulatory surgery centers in the tri-state region.
