Texas Map Project
Objective: You will become familiar with the terrain, landforms, bodies of water, climate, and natural
resources in the state of Texas.
Activity: You will create a map of Texas, using the supplied four puzzle pieces that will form the state
when assembled. Each puzzle piece represents one of the four geographical regions of Texas; (1) Coastal
Plains, (2) Central Plains, (3) Great Plains, (4) Mountains and Basins Region.
After learning about each geographical region, you will choose materials of different textures, shapes,
and colors, to symbolize the terrain, elevation, or climate of each area. For example, the background of
the coastal plains could be made in soft green material to symbolize the plant growth that occurs
because of the soil and the high level of precipitation.
