The Preamble
We the people of the United States,
in order to form a more perfect
Union, establish justice, ensure
domestic tranquility, provide for the
common defense, promote the
general welfare, and secure the
blessings of liberty to ourselves and
our posterity, do ordain and establish
this Constitution for the United States
of America.
Six Goals of the Constitution

Form a more perfect union

Insure domestic tranquility
Provide for the common defense
Promote the general welfare
Secure the blessings of liberty
Form a more perfect union

efficient system of
gov’t working together
as a single country

Provide for the Common Defense
 protection for our
nation from the
threat of war & our

 Encourage what is
good for ALL
people
 “life, liberty and
the pursuit of
happiness”
 Provide for the
citizens of the
United States
during hard times
Secure the blessings of liberty
 Guarantee our
freedom and make
certain that our
children have those
same freedoms.

Promote the General Welfare
The Affordable Health Care
Act has been approved by
Congress.
Establish Justice
 Federal prosecutors seek
charges against a company it
believes is using unfair
business practices
Form a more perfect Union
 The United States government issues
a uniform currency.
Provide for the Common
Defense
 The United States maintains
diplomatic relations with about 180
countries world-wide
Secure the Blessings of Liberty
 The Supreme Court hears a case
on whether dogs can be used to
search for drugs in a car stopped
for a traffic violation
Ensure Domestic Tranquility
 Firearms are prohibited on the
campus of public schools.
