ROTATIONS AND ANGLES
INTRO TO COLLEGE MATH
Our study of trigonometry will concentrate on the relationship between rotations ( or angles ) and
lengths. This will help us by defining basic terminology and concept concerning angles.

its vertex at the origin and one ray ( called the initial ray )
at the positive x – axis.

Exercise # 2: For each of the following angles, given by the Greek letter θ (theta), draw a
rotation diagram and identify what quadrant the terminal ray fall in.

ROTATIONS AND ANGLES DAY 1
INTRO TO COLLEGE MATH
1. For each of the following angles, draw a rotation diagram and state the quadrant the terminal
ray of the angle falls within.
2.
a.) Θ = 130°
b.) θ = 240°
c.) θ = - 100°
d.) θ = - 350°
e.) θ = 85°
f.) θ = 500°
Give a negative angle that has the same terminal ray ( is coterminal ) with the given angles.
a.) 100°
3.
b.) 230°
c.) 70°
d.) 235°
When drawn in standard position, which of the following angles is coterminal to one that
measures 130°?
(1) 430°
(2) 850°
(3) - 70°
(4) 730°
4. Which of the following angles, when drawn in standard position, would not be equivalent to
an angle that measures 270°?
(1) - 90°
(2) 990°
(3) 630°
(4) 720°
