Area of a
If a regular polygon has n sides, it can be divided into n
Regular Polygon congruent isosceles triangles. One way to find the area of
the entire polygon is to multiply the area of one of the
isosceles triangles by n.
Example: Find the area of a regular decagon with side
lengths of 4.
1. Find the measure of the vertex angle
find the measure of one interior angle
2. Find the height of one of the triangles
using right triangle trigonometry.
3. Find the area of one triangle.
4. Multiply the area of one triangle by
n, the number of sides.
