Grand Palace
Although, quite a few areas are not open to
the public, the experience of visiting the
Grand Palace is a memorable one. A couple
of other hot draws here are the Amarinda
Hall and the Boroma Biman Hall.
2
Wat Pho
The Outer Court at the Grand Palace once
housed the offices of the government
departments such army, civil administration,
and treasury, which were directly handled
by the king. The Central Court was the king’s
residence and affairs of the state were
carried out in the opulently done up halls
here. Further inside is the Inner Court, the
erstwhile home for royal ladies and children.
In fact, the Inner Court is like a city in itself
and is off limits for visitors.
monastery in India where the Buddha is said
to have lived.  Before the temple was
established, the complex served as an
education centre imparting knowledge
about arts and medicine. The idol  is
surrounded by symbols of Buddha like
flowers, white elephants, tigers, dancers and
altar accessories. It depicts marvellous
mosaic and mother of pearl inlaid work.
Once you have seen the insides of
Wat  Pho, you can take a look around,
have a monk bless you for a small donation
or consult a palmist or astrologer. You
can  also enjoy a traditional Thai
massage, which involves a combination of
Yoga postures and therapeutic
healing.
Grand Palace Thanon Na Phra Lan,
Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra
Nakhon, Bangkok
Home to the famed ‘Temple of the Emerald
Buddha’, the Grand Palace is actually a
series of palaces located within a huge
compound. When you are visit places like
Wat Pho and Wat Phra Kaew, make sure to
visit this amazing place as well. The place
feels like it is just out of a Thai fairytale, with
elegantly crafted doorways, pillars,
structures and roofs.

Subdistrict, Pranakorn District,
Bangkok 10200, Thailand
Considered as the first public university of
Thailand, Wat Pho taught people literature,
religion and science by means of the
colourful paintings that deck its walls. It is a
mesmerising temple complex perched on
one end of the Grand Palace. This is one of
the biggest temples in Bangkok and is also
called the birthplace of the original Thai
massage. The Buddha statue here is a
massive one, measuring 43m long and 15m
high.
What is highly interesting to know is that
Wat  Pho is actually named after a

Wat Arun
the intricate Thai architecture coupled with
an aura of spiritual comfort as beautiful as
the Temple of Dawn. Climb around the
winding staircase to the top of the temple
and let the beauteous sweeping views of the
City of Angels take your breath away. Locally
this temple is called Wat Arun, and this
monument is best viewed in the evening
when twinkling city lights add divine beauty
to its precincts. It is said that Wat Arun or
the Temple of Dawn is symbolic of Mount
Meru, the centre of the universe according
to Buddhist Cosmology. This theory is
supported by the four-corner prang of the
Temple, which house the images of
Buddhism's guardian gods. The Wat Arun is
also symbolic of single mindedness, which
all followers of Buddhism seek. It is said that
Wat Arun is the third leg of the holy trinity
commanded by Wat Pho and Wat Phra
Kaew. Though the place was named Temple
of Dawn for the beautiful rays it sets off as
soon as early morning sunlight comes by,
the true beauty of this temple comes to life
once the sun sets.

is what you see as a marvelous example of
Temple of the Golden Buddha
Bangkok Travel Guide - http://www.ixigo.com/travel-guide/bangkok
661, Chaoren Krung Road, Bangkok,
Thailand
One of the most popular religious and
tourist attractions of Bangkok,
Temple of the Golden Buddha is surely a not
to miss place when you are here. Housing a
massive statue of Buddha in pure gold
(which is arguably the largest one in world)
and other shiny buildings within its
premises, the temple remains flocked by
devotes and tourists alike. Other than its
religious significance, the place is a visual
treat as well with its grand architecture and
awesome paintings that adorn the walls of
temple, everything about this temple is
nothing short of pure magic.
There is an interesting mythological story
attached to Temple of the Golden Buddha
which goes like this- the Buddha here was
covered in plaster and suddenly a chunk fell
out of nowhere, revealing the statue which
turned out to be made from gold. Till date,
the statue looks like it has been dipped in
gold everyday due to its shimmer and
shining quality. With all this to explore and
experience at the Temple of the
Golden Buddha, it will definitely find a place
in your itinerary

Quaintly tucked in the northern outskirts of
Bangkok is this delightful place,Yusup. A
favourite with tourists and residents alike,
it’s usually packed to the brim, so it’s
suggested that you get a reservation. They

Though it seems like some run of the mill
tiny eatery in the north east suburbs, it’s a
haven for vegetarians. Savour the pan
Indian dishes here, brainchild of the owner
who holds the distinct reputation of getting
fresh veggies, all home grown. Now that
actually is some food for thought. Cookies
and Butterfly Pea Tea are just some of the
specialities.
If you are a large group and can't zero in on
one place for non vegetarian food,
head to Face, a restaurant complex housing
three restaurants. It serves Thai, Japanese
and North Indian Frontier cuisine. The place
is packed on weekends, and it might be a
good idea to get a reservation!
The menu here is pretty much plain vanilla,
but when you are being served such fresh
veggies, it doesn't really matter. Some of the
stellar dishes here are the Organic Veggie
Salads (mustard dressing, YUM), Spinach
Lasagna and the Tofu dishes. Don't lose all
Candles, plants, ponds, wooden antiques
and a lot of class spell the ambience of this
exquisite restaurant. What's more, even
