Course Description
The goal of the Environmental Science course is to provide students with the scientific
principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the
natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to
evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, to understand man and environment
interactions and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.
Course Objectives
1. To understand the environmental and ecological principles.
2. To be able to describe environmental situation in Thailand and its effects on human
well-being.
3. To understand how tourism and travel industry can be enhanced by natural resources
and biodiversity.
4. To understand and be able to describe problems and impacts related to
environmental pollution (air and water)
5. To understand the basic concepts of renewable and non-renewable energy.
6. To appreciate environmental scenery for esthetic and art appreciation.
Teaching and Evaluation Methods
Teaching will be in the classroom with interacting perspectives. A textbook is required.
Some of the course content will follow the recommended textbook.
No practical laboratory but field trips are provided to fit the lecture topics. At least 2
field trips are planned for each trimester. Field trip reports are required.
Midterm and final examinations are required and will be announce at the beginning of
the class.

Students will be evaluated from their total score (out of 100%). Grading system is A,
