Greek Gods and Goddesses Informational Project
DUE: _____________
PART I PROJECT
Project Choices & Requirements
1.
PowerPoint Presentation You are expected to include at least 7 slides. Decide on a layout for your slides. The first
slide needs to have a title for your topic, your name and an image. The next 8 slides should use text and images to
help you share the main ideas researched about your topic. Title each slide with the main idea you are trying to
present and include 2-3 bullet point sentences supporting it. Use images to help visualize your ideas. DO NOT
WRITE ALL OF YOUR TEXT ON THE SLIDES. It should be on notes in front of you. The “end” slide should list your
references.
2.
Newscast (Video) Prepare at least a 2 page script on the topic you have chosen to report on. Decide on costume,
props and background for your newscast. Rehearse or practice your newscast many times until you feel comfortable
reading it and try to make eye contact with your viewers. (Look at the camera.) The “credits” should list your
references. Film and edit your video. Then, send or give it to Mrs. Escamilla.
3.
Prezi Presentation. Go to the Prezi website: http://prezi.com Choose from an existing Template/Layout or start
from a blank Prezi. Give your new Prezi a title. You are expected to include at least 7 text frames. Title each text
frame with the main idea you are trying to present. Within each text frame, include at least 2-3 sentences of
information supporting the main idea. Use images to help visualize your ideas. The “end” slide should list your
references.
4.
Glogster - Create an interactive on-line poster using Glogster EDU http://edu.glogster.com/ Begin by creating a
“Wall”. This is the background for your Glog. You must include at least 7 text boxes on your Glog to share the
information found about your topic. Text boxes must be focused around the main ideas for your topic. Text boxes
should contain at least 2-3 complete sentences. Add images to help visualize your topic and main ideas. Your
references should be listed.
5.
Themed Box - (suitably decorated on the outside with items representative of the God or Goddess).
6.
Poster - If preparing a poster, you must provide your own poster board. The poster must include at least 5 images.
The images must be labeled with a caption. There also must be at least 5 paragraphs of writing. Each paragraph
needs to be at least 2-3 complete sentences long further explaining the topic. All writing should be typed or neatly
written. Poster should be creative, colorful, and informative. Write your references on the back.
7.
Dance: create and perform (or videotape) a carefully choreographed dance that represents the god / goddess that
you choose. If you would like, your dance may embody more than one god / goddess. Your dance would need to be
at least 3 minutes long, be creative and well-choreographed, and also incorporate costumes.
8.
Music: create a piece of music that incorporates knowledge of the Greek gods/goddesses. Again, you may choose
one god / goddess, or many different ones. Your musical piece must have lyrics as well as accompaniment by at
least one instrument (ANY TYPE OF INSTRUMENT is acceptable). The musical piece must be at least 3 minutes long
and show knowledge of the god(s) / goddess(es) that you choose.
9.
Art: create an original piece of art that represents one or more of the Greek gods/ goddesses. It may be a drawing,
painting, sculpture, or anything else (check with Mrs. E if you have other ideas). No matter what type of artwork
that you create, it must show a lot of effort and time, be colorful, and larger than a piece of notebook paper (if it is
on paper).
PART III
Presentations should also be well-prepared (approximately 3 minutes)
Practice your presentation with your project in your hands so you avoid continually looking at it when presentin
the project in front of the class. (Note cards are permitted but NOT required!)
Oral presentations should be approximately 3 minutes long and need to . . .
⎕ be told in a logical sequence or order
⎕ use appropriate transitions
⎕ have good nonverbal elements: eye contact, adequate volume, appropriate pacing, clear
pronunciation, and a presentation free of hesitation,
repetition or disruption
