AP Course Information for Students:
The following Advanced Placement (AP) courses are very popular with Anne Arundel County students, and are among the most heavilyenrolled AP courses we offer. Students who enroll in these classes and sit for the AP exam in May usually score well. And, if you receive
an AP Potential recommendation for any of these AP courses, there's a good chance that you will earn a score of 3 or higher if you
enroll in that course and take the AP exam.

AP English Language
Learn about the elements that define effective argument and composition through the critical analysis
and interpretation of complex texts.
AP English Literature
Explore literary elements such as a work’s structure, style and themes, as well as the use of figurative
language, imagery, symbolism and tone.
AP Environmental Science
Explore and investigate the interrelationships of the natural world, identify and analyze environmental
problems, both natural and human-made, evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and
examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.
AP European History
Learn about the cultural, economic, political and social developments that have shaped today’s world
through the study of European history from the year 1450 to present.
AP Human Geography
Learn about the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use,
and alteration of Earth's surface. Use spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human social
organization and its environmental consequences and learn about the methods and tools geographers
use in their science and practice.
AP Psychology
Explore the concepts, theories, perspectives, phenomena and behaviors associated with the subfields and
research areas of psychology. Analyze the methods psychologists use to study various types of behavior
and mental processes and evaluate the validity and significance of their contributions
AP Statistics
Develop analytical and critical thinking skills as you learn to describe data patterns and departures from
patterns, plan and conduct studies, use probability and simulation to explore random phenomena,
estimate population parameters, test hypotheses, and make statistical inferences
AP World History
Explore key themes of world history, including interaction with the environment, cultures, state-building,
economic systems, and social structures, from approximately 8000 B.C.E. to the present.
