Hephaestus
The god with the one and only workshop under mount Aetna that can tinker with
anything he wants. He is the god of blacksmiths and fire. Hephaestus is a character that displays
the values of working with his hands and craftsmanship while threw time his kind heart and
ugliness has put its share of views on people. Hephaestus is the only god that was born weak
and crippled with a deformed foot.
In the time of Hephaestus the people thought he was lame and ugly. He is the son of
Zeus and Hera. Hera is the god of marriage while Zeus is the king of gods. Being the god of fire
and smith, he had a workshop under mount Aetna that he made all the armor for the gods. He
was kind and peace loving. Hephaestus was married to his wife Aphrodite, who was very unfair
and cruel to him. She cheated on him with other gods. The amazing name Hephaestus is Vulcan
in Roman. Because of the fact that he was born lame he limped on one side which caused his
mother to throw him off Mount Olympus. Also being the god of crafts he made the first woman
by the command of Zeus. He would spend day and night in his shop creating new things. Hera
expected him to be better than he was and to be at least better than Zeus’s kids. He also had
many tricks up his sleeve to gain back some power.
Threw time views on everything change and stories are tweaked to keep them
interesting. Now days we would think of Bill Gates as Hephaestus because of his craftsmanship

of creating the best computer software ever known, Microsoft which is used on all different
kinds all over the world. With the precipitin changing some people think that it was just Hera’s
baby not with Zeus. His 2nd wife is now known as Aglaia and she was more graceful than
Aphrodite. Some think and say that Hera, upset by having an ugly child flung him from Mount
Olympus into the sea, breaking his legs but no one will ever know if it’s true. When he was in
the water a water nymph named Thetis saved him after his fall. He lived with her for 9 years.
Hephaestus is also thought to be Hera’s baby along without Zeus. You can see his fall I the
picture in the appendix.
That means that there is a huge generational gap of thoughts and the passing of
information. If it’s not the gap it must be the difference in the way different people interpret
the story. This also shows that all the information that we have really isn’t true either. It could
be just mad up stories from the past that the modern society keeps changing like they did in the
past as if they were made up fiction stories for entertainment. Not only does it not make since
how they went day to day with all of the crazy gods just eating whole babies like croons. This
also means that back in the Greek time that they would act and get away with a lot more than
what we can today. When one god would force another less powerful one to do something no
one was there to stop it. The comparison pictures of his are in the appendix.
Hephaestus is a character that displays the values of working with your hands and
craftsmanship while threw time his kind heart and ugliness has put its share of views on people.
Hephaestus is the best god when it comes to working with your hand eye coordination to craft
some of the best things of the time. Hephaestus had one of the most extreme life’s by coming

from just his mom and living his fall. When it comes time to think back to the Greek times thank
Hephaestus for that entire he has done.

To gain revenge for his rejection by Hera, Hephaestus fashioned a magic throne, which was
presented to her on Mount Olympus. When Hera sat on the throne, it entrapped her, making
her a prisoner. The gods on Mount Olympus pleaded with Hephaestus to return to their
heavenly domain, as to release Hera, but he refused. Dionysus gave the smith god wine, and
when Hephaestus was intoxicated, Dionysus took him back to Mount Olympus slumped over
the back of a mule. This scene was a favorite in Greek art. Hephaestus released Hera after being
given the beautiful Aphrodite as his bride. Dionysus was rewarded by being made one of the
Olympian Pantheon.
