FIT Guard

Our first product The FIT Guard™ aims to solve the problem of athletes returning to play when they have a high
probability of having a head injury. Our mouthguard will
visually display the force of an impact. Through the use
of high-luminosity LEDs, a gyroscope, an accelerometer,
a complex user-specific algorithm, and a microcontroller,
our product illuminates a certain color if a force breaches a
set threshold. That color is correlated to the probability the
player suffered a concussion based on concussion proximities derived from clinical research. Our goal is to minimize
inherent risk associated with players remaining on the field
after suffering an undetected concussion. We strive to minimize the long term health risks associated with repetitive
blows to a concussed brain.

Home-use cancer detecting plaster

We propose and preliminary clinically demonstrated
the capability to develop a home-use band aid for early
detection of skin cancer. Such a device can be affordable for the end user and can make our life significantly
better as it may significantly reduce the probability of
missing malignant tissues or discovering malignant tissue in its “too late” progress stage. Our consumable low
cost band aid was clinically tested for early detection
of lymphoma and melanoma but it can be applied to
other types of cancer as well. The band aid contains an
array of micro needles with small detection array connected to each needle which inspects the color of the
surface of the skin versus time after being pinched with
the needles. We were able to show in pre-clinical trials
that the color varies differently if the skin is close to tumor tissue.

the safety and comfort of the diver when diving in coldwater conditions by regulating the divers body heat. Avanto
consists of three separate pieces of clothing and a wireless battery module that are designed to function together.
The wireless battery module, acting as a 3D-printed dive
weight, provides bi-directional wireless power from outside the suit to integrated far infrared radiation elements
inside the mid-layer. Avanto is a set of a diving dry suit,
a mid-layer and a base-layer that utilizes both active and
passive heating to make the diving experience safer and
more comfortable in demanding environments. Avanto was
founded by Aino Aarnio-Juurinen and Visa Kupias in 2015.
Aarnio-Juurinen and Kupias graduated as Master of Arts
from the Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Helsinki, Finland in 2015.
