Area of Primatology
The Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, invites
nominations (including self-nominations) for a director position in the general area of
primatology.
The successful candidate is expected to establish a unique, innovative and long-term
research program focused on primate behavior, ecology, and cognition. Comparative
methods both within and between species are highly desired.
Research at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology revolves around
the study of human evolution, broadly defined. The institute currently has five departments and hosts about 400 scientists and related staff. It offers outstanding facilities
for studying primate evolution, including the Wolfgang Köhler Primate Research Facility. See the website at www.eva.mpg.de for further details. The institute sits in the
heart of Leipzig in central Germany, and offers a welcoming, international and vibrant
atmosphere. The working language at the institute is English. With over half a million
inhabitants, Leipzig is a thriving modern city with several major research institutions,
and one of the most popular places for students, postdocs, and young families in Germany. Visit english.leipzig.de for more information.
