Costco Wholesale records indicate you may have purchased Bassé Unsalted Sunflower Seeds (item
216798) at a Costco warehouse in Ontario, Quebec or the Atlantic provinces between June 24, 2015, and
January 17, 2016.
Bassé Frères Alimentation Oriental (2013) Inc. is voluntarily recalling this product due to the potential
presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in
young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy
individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea,
abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant
women.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. If you believe you
have the Bassé Unsalted Sunflower Seeds in your possession, do not consume the product. Please return
it to your local Costco warehouse for a full refund.
