Demonstrate tossing a ball and catch it before it bounces twice.
Demonstrate the proper technique for an underhand roll.
Locate the lungs and explain their purpose.
Identify foods that enhance a healthy heart.
Travel in different ways in a large group without bumping into
others or falling.
Dribble a ball in self-space using one hand.

Explain the negative effects of smoking on the lungs.
Walk forward and sideways on a line or the length of a beam
without falling.
Roll sideways (right or left) without hesitating.
Using the palm, strike a balloon underhand (upward)
continuously.
Identify two muscles and the matching stretches.
State that rest and sleep are important in caring for the body.
Walk and “roll” (tap) the ball forward, using either foot (not the
toe).
Lift and support his/her own weight in selected activities that
develop muscular strength and endurance of the arms, shoulders,
abdomen, back, and legs such as hanging, hopping, and jumping.
Explain appropriate reactions during emergencies in physical
activities such as staying calm, following adult directions, and
getting help.
1st Grade
Demonstrate tossing a ball to self and catching it.
Demonstrate the proper techniques for an underhand throw.
Describe the location and function of the heart.
Identify healthy “GO” foods as a source of energy.
Demonstrate proper foot patterns and form in jogging, marching,
hopping, jumping, skipping, leaping, galloping, and sliding.
Jump a self-turned rope with single bounce landings.
Dribble a ball in self-space using one hand and then the other
hand.
Identify five bones and describe how muscles and bones work
together to produce movement.
Explain the negative effects of smoking and second hand smoke.
Demonstrate control in balancing and traveling activities such as
walk forward and sideways across a beam without falling.
Identify four muscles of the body and identify the pectoral stretch.
Explain the negative effects of lack of sleep on physical
performance and on the body.
Dribble a ball with the foot and slowly jog while using either foot.
Repeatedly strike (hit) a balloon upward using a lightweight
paddle while standing in self-space.
Students will demonstrate the muscular strength activity for each
of the body areas (shoulders, abdominals, legs and back).
Identify five items that can be used as protection from the sun.

3rd Grade
Demonstrate an overhand throw to a target.
Distinguish between aerobic and anaerobic activities and describe
the effects of physical activity on the heart.
Using the food group categories, identify healthy “GO” foods that
increase or reduce bodily functions.
Demonstrate various step patterns and combinations of
movement in repeatable sequences.
Hand dribble a ball and move in different directions while
remaining in bounds.

partner.
Identify eight different muscles of the body and identify two
stretches.
Explain the positive impact that physical activity has on stress
relief.
Demonstrate running and kicking a ball that is moving.
Bounce and then strike a small, lightweight ball using a small
paddle with a forehand motion.

4th Grade
Demonstrate an overhand throw to a traveling partner such as
pass patterns.
Describe the effects of exercise on heart rate.

from a lightly tossed ball from a partner.
Match a variety of stretching exercises with the appropriate
muscle.
Explain the relationship between physical activity and stress
relief.
Demonstrate a foot dribble when dribbling around moving
opponents and keeping the ball in control.
