INTERACTIVE DESIGNER & DEVELOPER POSITION SUMMARY
Kahala, a globally recognized leader in quick-service restaurant franchising, has an opportunity for an
Interactive Designer & Developer to join its Interactive Marketing Team in the corporate office in Scottsdale,
Arizona. Kahala franchisees and partners operate a portfolio of 16 QSR brands including Cold Stone Creamery,
Blimpie, Planet Smoothie, and Great Steak, among others, in over 25 countries around the world.
With this role, we’re looking for someone with well-developed web design and front-end development skills in
addition to some backend development experience. This person should be comfortable designing websites,
landing pages and interactive applications but should also know his or her way around a CMS and have some
experience with HTML, CSS and Javascript.
The Interactive Department serves as a full-service, in-house social and digital marketing service team that
supports the brand teams for each Kahala concept. In this role, you will be designing and developing websites,
landing pages and online applications for each of Kahala’s brands. In addition to this primary function, you’ll
use Photoshop to create email graphics, social media content and digital ads for the social media and digital
advertising teams as needed.
INTERACTIVE DESIGNER & DEVELOPER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Design and build best-in-class websites, landing promotional pages and microsites
 Work to ensure designs are technologically sound
 Optimize websites to ensure they render consistently in cross-browser environments, with best SEO
principles Web design
 Document processes and code in a clear, comprehensive and organized manner
 Provide support for ongoing maintenance of existing websites
 Report, track and fix website bugs
 Create graphics to be used in emails, on social media sites and in digital advertising campaigns
INTERACTIVE DESIGNER & DEVELOPER PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
 4+ years professional work experience in a design/development role
 College degree preferred in communications, marketing, journalism or new media
 Proficient in Adobe Suite, specifically Dreamweaver & Photoshop
 Experience managing a CMS
 Some coding experience (HTML, CSS, PHP, or JavaScript); HTML5 or CSS3 experience a plus
 Experience with Responsive and mobile design techniques
 Knowledge of the best practices and limitations of web design (layout widths, typography, image
optimization, etc.)
 Experience testing for cross-browser, cross-platform, and/or cross-device compatibility.
