Producers
Of all the biotic factors plants(producers) might be the most
important.
Producer: Any organism that makes it's own food using the
energy from the sun and produces oxygen.
The reason they are the most important is Consumers rely on
producers to supply food (berries, nuts, and leaves) and
oxygen. Also, Unlike consumers and decomposers producers can
make their own food using energy from the sun to produce
sugars. In every ecosystem there will always be producers
such as...
Forage Grass in the Savannah
Cacti in the Desert
Seagrass in the Ocean

Consumers
In an ecosystem consumers(animals or insects) are next.
Consumers rely on producers to provide them with food and
oxygen. Some consumers also eat other consumers such as, a
bird eating a worm.
Consumer: Any animal that eats
plants(producers) or
other animals.
Consumers also play an important role in an ecosystem. Not
only do they keep producers in check and help with
pollination(helps plants reproduce) they also provide food for
decomposers. Within every ecosystem are specific consumers,
such as...
Wolf Pup in the Tundra
Chorus Frog in the Prairie
Butterfly in the Deciduous Forest

Decomposers
Just like producers and consumers, decomposers also play an
important role in an ecosystem.
Decomposer: Breaks down dead plants and animals into
minerals.
Decomposers preform a variety of functions. Not only do they
rid an ecosystem of dead plants and animals, they turn those
dead things and convert them into minerals the soil needs.
Decomposers are also more active in wet climates with lots of
plants and animals. So, the rainforest is a much better
location than a desert. Regardless of location though
decomposers play a very important role. Some types of
decomposers include...
Worms
Fungi
Mushrooms
Bacteria
(Which is found Everywhere even in
the ocean.)
