God’s Essence
Immutability
We have already seen that God is Sovereign. He rules the heavens and the
earth; His Word is law and must be obeyed. Disobeying God is sin. God is
also Righteous. In His perfect goodness, He cannot stand sin; in His
Justice, God must punish sin. Who took the punishment for us and was
judged for all our sin? (Jesus Christ) None of us deserved this. We are
only saved by God’s grace. Next we have learned that God is Love and by
grace shared his Perfect Love for us by sending His Perfect Son, Jesus
Christ to take and bear the sins of all mankind on the Cross. God has
always existed and will always exist, He has no beginning or end because
God is Eternal Life. God is all knowing, as He knows everything, the end
from the beginning because He is Omniscient. God is Omnipresent, as
He is present everywhere at all times, therefore you can’t hide from God.
God is Omnipotent, as He is all powerful as seen by His creation and
holding everything together.
Immitability is the next attribute of God’s Essence we will learn
about.

make it good?
Connection Between Eternal Life And Immutability
Psalm 102:24–27 (NASB95)

26“Even they will perish, but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a
garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
27“But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.

• Did God Keep His Promise to Adam And Eve? Yes, God Sent The Savior
(Jesus Christ) Into The World
• When God Changed His Mine About Destroying Nineveh, Did God Change?
No, Nineveh Changed And Turned Aside From Their Sinful Behavior
• Had God Changed In The Garden Of Eden? No, God Had Not Changed, But
Adam and Eve had Changed And Become Sinners.
The Adam’s Sin Nature (STA, OSN) Was Passed On To All Mankind
Romans 5:12 (NASB95)
12Therefore, just as through one man (Adam) sin (the OSN) entered into the
world, and death (spiritual death) through sin, and so death (spiritual death)
spread to all men, because (upon which) all sinned—(spiritual death is the
reason all sinned)

Noah And The Worldwide Flood
Satan Trying To Prevent The Coming Of The Messiah, The Savior
Genesis 6:1–4 (NASB95)
1Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and
daughters were born to them,
2that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they
took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.
3Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he
also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
4The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the
sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them.
Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
• The Sons Of God Were Angel-Men, Who Infiltrated Human Race
• Their Offspring Would Be Sterile (Unable To Have Any Children)
• If This Would Have Continued, The Messiah (Jesus Christ) Would Not Have
Been Born
• This Is One Of The Reasons For The Worldwide Flood

The Wickedness And Corruption Of Mankind
Genesis 6:5–7 (NASB95)
5Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and
that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved
in His heart.
7The LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the
land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am
sorry that I have made them.”
Noah’s Righteousness, Fellowship And Obedience
Genesis 6:8–9 (NASB95)
8But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
9These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man,
blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.

the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with
violence.
12God
looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had
corrupted their way upon the earth.
God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the
earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy
them with the earth.

15“This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits
(450 Ft.), its breadth fifty cubits (75 Ft.), and its height thirty cubits (45 Ft.).
16“You shall make a window for the ark, and finish it to a cubit from the top;
and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower,
second, and third decks.
The Coming Flood
Genesis 6:17 (NASB95)

Noah, His Family, The Animals And The Birds Entered The Ark
Genesis 7:1–9 (NASB95)
1Then the LORD said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I
have seen to be righteous before Me in this time.
2“You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of
the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female;
3also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the
face of all the earth.
4“For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and
I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.”
5Noah did according to all that the LORD had commanded him.
6Now Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water came upon the earth.
7Then Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark
because of the water of the flood.
8Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps
on the ground,
9there went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, as God had commanded
Noah.

The Whole Earth Was Flooded
Genesis 7:10–12 (NASB95)
10It came about after the seven days, that the water of the flood came upon the earth.
11In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day
of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the
floodgates of the sky were opened.
12The rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.
The Flood Was Upon The Earth For Forty Days
Genesis 7:16–20 (NASB95)
16Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him;
and the LORD closed it (Door To The Ark) behind him.
17Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days, and the water increased and lifted
up the ark, so that it rose above the earth.
18The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark floated on the
surface of the water.
19The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains
everywhere under the heavens were covered.
20The water prevailed fifteen cubits (22.5 Ft.) higher, and the mountains were covered.

A New Beginning, The Water Recedes
Genesis 8:1–4 (NASB95)
1But God remembered (thought of) Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that
were with him in the ark; and God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the
water subsided.
2Also the fountains of the deep and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the
rain from the sky was restrained;
3and the water receded steadily from the earth, and at the end of one hundred and
fifty days the water decreased.
4In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon
the mountains of Ararat.
Noah, His Family And The Animals Leave The Ark
Genesis 8:16–17 (NASB95)
16“Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with
you.
17“Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and
animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed
abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”

The Truthfulness Of God’s Word
Luke 17:26–27 (NASB95)
26“And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of
the Son of Man:
27they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being
given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came
and destroyed them all.
Hebrews 11:7 (NASB95)
7By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence
prepared an ark for the salvation (deliverance) of his household, by which he
condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is
according to faith.
1 Peter 3:20 (NASB95)

days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight
persons, were brought safely through the water.
