An EXPONENT says how many times to use the number in multiplication.
= 2 × 2 × 2
REPEATED MULTIPLICATION!
IMPORTANT!
Property of Zero as an Exponent
• The value of any nonzero number raised to the power of 0 is 1.

PRIME FACTORIZATION is finding which prime numbers multiply together to make the original number. FACTOR TREE STEPS:
1) Find one set of factors for the original number
2) If one or both of the factors is prime, circle it. For each factor that is not prime, repeat step 1. 3) Once all the factors are prime, write the answer using exponential form. 48
Complete a factor tree and write the prime factorization for both numbers. 78
