It is endemic to Antarctica and the only one capable of breeding during the Antarctic winter. Emperor penguins eat mostly crustaceans, although sometimes they also ingest little fish and squids. The lifespan is typically 20 years in the wild, although there are records of individuals reaching 50 years of age.
