THE RADA SHAKESPEARE MESSENGER AWARD
Designed for candidates 12+
Individual candidate assessment time: 15 minutes.
£45 Individuals.
Assessment:
Performance of one of the un-named Shakespeare Messenger speeches from Section One of the speech
set-list.
Performance of one of the named Shakespeare Messenger speeches from Section Two of the speech setlist.
Candidate to be given feedback before performing the speech again.
THE RADA SHAKESPEARE BRONZE AWARD
All candidates must be 15+
Individuals or pairs assessment time: 15 minutes. 30 minutes for a pair.
£45 Individuals, £90 Pairs.
Assessment:
Performance of one of the set-list sonnets (each candidate to deliver singly if a pair).
Performance of one of the Shakespeare speeches or a duologue (for a pair) from the speech set-list.
Candidate(s) to be given feedback, before performing the speech or duologue again.
RADA SHAKESPEARE SILVER AWARD
All candidates must be 15+
Individuals or pairs assessment time: 20 minutes. 40 minutes for a pair.
Candidates will need to have gained the RADA Bronze Award.
£60 Individuals, £120 Pairs.
Assessment:
Performance of one of the Shakespeare speeches or a duologue (if a pair) from the speech set-list.
Candidate(s) given feedback before performing the speech or duologue again.

Performance of one of Shakespeare's sonnets (chosen by the candidate).
Candidate(s) given feedback before performing the sonnet again.
THE RADA SHAKESPEARE GOLD AWARD
All candidates must be 15+.
Individuals or pairs assessment time: 45 minutes. 90 minutes for a pair.
Candidates will need to have gained the RADA Silver Award.
£95 Individuals, £190 Pairs.
Assessment:
Each candidate (or each candidate in turn, if a pair is being assessed) engage in a discussion with the
assessor, focussing on the plays their chosen speeches are from; the characters involved; and in more
general terms, Shakespeare and his works.
Performance of one of the Shakespeare speeches or a duologue (if a pair) from the speech set-list.
Candidate(s) given feedback before performing the speech or duologue again.
Performance of a second Shakespeare speech or a duologue (if a pair) from the speech set-list.
Candidate(s) given feedback before performing the speech or duologue again.
Performance of a sight-read sonnet. This will be given to the candidate 15 minutes before their
assessment.
Candidate(s) given feedback before performing the sonnet again.
THE RADA SHAKESPEARE PLATINUM AWARD
All candidates must be 15+.
Individual candidate assessment time: 60 minutes.
Candidates will need to have gained the RADA Gold Award.
£120 Individuals.
Assessment:
Prior to the Award assessment candidates will submit a written review (500-700 words) of a Shakespeare
production from the past. This is provided when they apply for the Platinum Award assessment.
During the Award assessment at RADA candidates present a 10 minute presentation on a Shakespeare
Production of their own creation.
10-minute discussion with the assessor on the above.
Performance of their first Two Masks speeches that the candidate chooses themselves from any of
Shakespeare’s plays.
Candidate given feedback before performing the speech again.

Performance of their second Two Masks speech. This speech is also chosen by the candidate.
Candidate given feedback before performing the speech again.
Performance of a sight-read speech. This will be given to the candidate 15 minutes before their
assessment.
Candidate given feedback before performing the speech again.
PROLOGUES WORKSHOPS
Prologues Workshops are for candidates preparing for their RADA Shakespeare Award, and they take
place at RADA between 10:00-4:00pm. At these Workshops, a RADA tutor will help candidates to explore
the skills needed to get the most out of their RADA Shakespeare Award preparation and assessment, as
well as creating an inspiring atmosphere to learn more about Shakespeare.
Prologues Foundation
The Prologues Foundation Workshops are ideal for candidates preparing for their RADA Shakespeare
Bronze Award.
£90 + Award assessment fee.
Prologues Advanced
The Prologues Advanced Workshops are ideal for candidates preparing for their RADA Shakespeare Silver
or Gold Award.
£90 + Award assessment fee.
Candidates are required to book a single assessment for the Award within 12 months from the date of the
workshop.
GROUNDWORKS WORKSHOPS
Groundworks Workshops are for teachers, tutors and individuals working with candidates preparing for
their RADA Shakespeare Awards. They are designed to assist teachers in getting the most out of students,
with guidance on the syllabus and marking criteria, and with practical exercises and discussion.
The workshop covers all of our awards: Messenger, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Groundworks workshop 10-4pm £125.
ACT I WORKSHOPS
ACT I Workshops are 3-hour sessions delivered by a RADA tutor, and are available for school and drama
groups. They are designed to support students taking part in the RADA Shakespeare Awards,
strengthening their connection to language; discovering character; and encouraging them to explore the
imaginative world of the plays. It is essentially a "fire-lighting" session, with the Awards and Awards
Assessments very much in mind.
