• People avoided contact
with others due to fear of
getting infected- jobs were
neglected & importance of
family/community declined.
• Some began to question
their faith- how could God
allow such horrible things
to happen. This created a
decline in the absolute
power religion had in many
communities.
• Labor force was greatly
affected- not enough
people left to do the
necessary work.
• Decrease in trade due to
fewer sailors/merchants
AND fear of contracting the
disease.
• Smaller labor force
increased the value and
power of workers- workers
were paid higher wages
and living conditions
improved.
• Decline of feudal system
as workers are able to
demand better conditions
