The Doctrine Defined:
In addition to the outward general call to
salvation (which is made to everyone who
hears the Gospel), the Holy Spirit extends
to the elect a special inward call that
inevitably brings them to salvation. The
external call (which is made to all without
distinction) can be -- and often is -rejected; whereas the internal call (which is
made only to the elect) cannot be rejected;
it always results in conversion.
The Doctrine Defined:
By means of this special call, the Spirit irresistibly
draws sinners to Christ. He is not limited in His
work of applying salvation by man's will, nor is
He dependent upon man's cooperation for
success. The Spirit graciously causes the elect
sinner to cooperate, to believe, to repent, to
come freely and willingly to Christ. God's
grace, therefore, is invincible; it never fails to
result in the salvation of those to whom it is
extended. This describes in a nutshell the
doctrine of Irresistible Grace, or the Efficacious
Call.
The Doctrine Defined:
God's call to salvation is unlimited but His
redemption is limited to those who believe.
(Matthew 22:14) The Holy Spirit's conviction
and drawing is what drags us to God. We do
not come by our own will, which is utterly
depraved and naturally hostile toward God. In
The word "draw", used in John 6:44, is taken
from the Greek word "helkuo", which means
literally, "to drag." The very same word is used
in Acts 16:19, where it is translated "dragged"
in the NKJV, Amplified Version, NASB, and the
NIV. When the Holy Spirit draws sinners, He
literally drags them.
The Doctrine Defined:
Before salvation sinners are dead in trespasses and
sins. A dead person is lifeless and not able to do
anything. If you wish to move a dead person without
any assistance, from one end of a place to another
you must drag him. That is exactly what the Holy
Spirit has to do to sinners to bring them to salvation.
The Holy Spirit regenerates the unregenerate by
turning a spiritually dead will that is in rebellion
against God to one that is spiritually alive and
willingly accepts Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Thus, salvation is all of God and not of man in any
way, shape, or form. He deserves all the credit,
praise, and glory.
What do the Scriptures teach?

We have FREE WILL.
 Deuteronomy 30:15-18
 Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to
serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this
day whom you will serve, whether the gods
which your fathers served that were on the
other side of the River, or the gods of the
Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as
for me and my house, we will serve the
LORD.”
We have free will.

Jeremiah 4:3-4
 6:10, 16-19
 29:18-19
 32:33
 35:13-17

Ezekiel 18:20-32
We have free will.

Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
the one who kills the prophets and stones
those who are sent to her! How often I
wanted to gather your children together, as
a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,
but you were not willing!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have everlasting life.
Therefore, we will be judged
according to our works.

Ezekiel 18:30 “Therefore I will judge you, O
house of Israel, every one according to his
ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Repent, and turn
from all your transgressions, so that iniquity
will not be your ruin.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 Therefore we make it our
aim, whether present or absent, to be well
pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear
before the judgment seat of Christ, that each
one may receive the things done in the body,
according to what he has done, whether good
or bad.
Without free will, these
statements make no sense:
 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the
things which I say? Luke 6:46
○ The Calvinist would have to answer: Dumb question,
Lord. God willed it to be that way.
 For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
○ The Calvinist says, “whoever God is partial to, him He
will zap with His Holy Spirit to create faith, and he will be
saved.
Without free will, these
statements make no sense:
 "Whosoever will, let him take the water of life
freely.” Revelation 22:17
○ The Calvinist says, “whosoever God forces, let
him take the water of life under compulsion.”
 "And whosoever will not receive you, when you
go out of that city, shake off the very dust from
your feet for a testimony against them." Luke 9:5
○ The Calvinist says, “shake off the very dust from
your feet as a testimony against God, who didn’t
enable them to receive you.”
God calls all, but we can resist.

Mark 16:15-16

John 6:44-45,
 Isaiah 2:2-3
 Romans 10:13-17
 John 8:32
 John 6:63, 68
The Calvinist makes the devil
more powerful than God.

Adam and Eve were totally hereditarily
righteous.
 Genesis 1:31 Then God saw everything that He

Is God’s word unable to affect the sinner
the way the devil’s word affected the
righteous?
Consequences of Irresistible
Grace:
We are essentially puppets.
 God is a respecter of persons.
 We are judged on that which we couldn’t
help but do.
 The gospel is useless and unnecessary.
 God’s word is less powerful than the
devil’s.
 The Scriptures are nonsense.
