There are sections on our H-R Diagram we haven't talked
about yet, even though we're at the end of our unit. What
kinds of stars do you think go on the other parts of the
diagram? When do you think we'll get to them?
Objective
Tonight’s Homework
To prepare for our test on
stars tomorrow
Study for test tomorrow
Studying for the Test on Stars
Monday we’re going to have a test on the different kinds
of stars. You need to know the following:
- How we use parallax to measure distances to nearby
stars.
- Basic properties on each of the major kinds of stars.
- What kinds of stars are in the local stellar neighborhood
- How we measure luminosity and magnitude
- How to calculate apparent and absolute magnitude
- The basic structure and composition of the H-R Diagram
- How to estimate the rough size of a star
- How we use the H-R Diagram to measure star distances
- How we use light curves to calculate properties of
binary star systems
