DEFINITION
Smallest piece of an element that keeps its chemical properties
Particle in the nucleus of an atom with a positive charge
Particle in the nucleus of an atom with no charge
Particle orbiting the nucleus of an atom with a negative charge
Dense, central core of an atom (made of protons and neutrons)
Path an electron takes around the nucleus
A shell is sometimes called an orbital or energy level.
Shells are areas that surround the center of an atom.
The mass of an atom, equal to the number of protons and neutrons in the
nucleus.
The number of protons in the nucleus and electrons in the electron cloud
One of the basic substances that are made of atoms of only one kind and tha
cannot be separated by ordinary chemical means into simpler substances
A way to organize and learn all of the elements
