The European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles
and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases
(ECML/PKDD) will take place in Athens, Greece from
September 5th to 9th, 2011.
This event builds upon a very successful series of 21 ECML and
14 PKDD conferences, which have been jointly organized for
the past ten years.
ECML/PKDD has become the major European scientific event in
these fields and in 2011 it will comprise presentations of
contributed papers and invited speakers, a wide program of
workshops and tutorials, a discovery challenge, a demo track
and an industrial track.
We invite submissions on all aspects of machine learning,
knowledge discovery and data mining. We especially
encourage submissions of papers that describe the application
of machine learning and data mining methods to real-world
problems, and highlight new research challenges in new
domains such as the web, medicine, biology, neuroscience,
engineering, government fields. Submissions that demonstrate
both theoretical and empirical rigor are also highly
encouraged.
The conference proceedings will be published by Springer
Verlag ("Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence" Series).
Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit a
significantly extended version of their paper to two postconference special issues of:
- Machine Learning Journal
- Data Mining & Knowledge Discovery Journal
