In this essay I will be explaining “Whether the government has legal authority to
eradicate an entire town for the purpose of preventing the spread of a deadly
contagious disease to the entire nation.” This question has a two-sided answer,
because people that work CDC and other organizations think that it’s something that
can stop a worldwide spread but people that live in these places being quarantined or
isolated think otherwise.
The government only allows quarantine or isolation operations when it’s serious and
can potentially get over the borders and spread worldwide like the Ebola incident for
example. Theses operations have a completely different working system, as Isolation
separation of people known or have signs of the disease and Quarantine when you are
restricted from movement and they are provided with meals, sleeping
accommodations, and other necessities. They would stay there until the risk of
developing the disease or spreading the disease is over. It’s known that there is
twenty U.S. Quarantine Stations, located at ports of entry and land border crossings,
use these public health practices as part of a comprehensive Quarantine System that
serves to limit the introduction of infectious diseases into the United States and to
prevent their spread and not cause a huge worldwide spread.
Now the people being isolated or quarantined think that it’s something almost brutal
as there taken from their home or are stuck inside a town with an infectious disease.
They aren’t given much of a choice when theses operations are done and stop them
from leaving the borders, some describe isolation as being refugees others find it a
way of protecting themselves and families from this thing attacking people’s organs.
According to a survey conducted for the Trust for America's Health in 2007, "nearly 9
out of 10 Americans say they would abide by a voluntary quarantine and stay home in
the case of an outbreak of a pandemic flu so really it depends on who you talk to
really. But at the end of the day people realize they are being protected and a chance
of living without this disease and they are granted with meals, sleeping
accommodations, and other necessities.
In conclusion it’s a smart operation but it needs to be explained to the public in more
detail so they are aware of what is happening. Use of quarantine or isolation powers
may create sensitive issues related to civil liberties, which could cause rebelling
against the government in over two states. Quarantine and isolation are usually
undertaken voluntarily but in rare circumstances can be required by public health
authorities, so really it depends how bad the situation is of this deadly disease going
around and how the outbreak could attack. This is a working progress operation in
my opinion. My final decision is that it should be legally aloud because it’s an
operation stopping infectious disease from going worldwide I understand it may
invade people’s, lives but what’s more important a state being infected or the whole
world.

Source 1- Why- I chose this source because it’s a government website and how to inform people of the process and how it
actually works but one thing that I wish was improved was that they had public opinion.
Source 2- Why- I chose this source because it’s also a government organization, also because it was written to the define the
differences between the two operations.
Source 3- Why- I chose this source because it is a medical website and how it’s not only for preteens but almost all ages, but there
limitations as it’s only facts.
