Who are God’s Chosen people?
Nearly all major religions, other than Hinduism, believe there is
a supreme being that has chosen a set group of people to ascend into
an afterlife with him/her. The Mormons, Christians, Muslims, Jews, or
even the Rastafarians could be God’s chosen people, but more facts
tend to point toward the Jews being the actual secular group chosen to
be the right religion.
In Judaism, chosenness is the belief that the Jews are a people
chosen to be in a covenant with God. The idea is not connected with
tribal groupings as they are traditionally understood, as non-ethnic
Jews can become Jews. The Jewish idea of being chosen is first found
in the Torah (five books of Moses) and is elaborated on in later books
of the Hebrew Bible. This status carries both responsibilities and
blessings as described in the Biblical covenants with God (Over 3800
years ago). Much is written about this topic in rabbinic literature
(Tanach, XXIV). Even other religions, like the Mormons teach that the
Jews are the chosen people of God. For example, Mormons are "The
kin blood of the Jews" (Doctrine, 374). Along with this belief, believers
in the religion of Rastafari claim to be a part of the chosen group of
god by blood lineage. Rastas believe that Israel's King Solomon,
together with Ethiopian Queen of Sheba, conceived a child which
began the Solomonic line of kings in Ethiopia, rendering the African

people as the true children of Israel, and thereby chosen (Dread, 122).
Obviously Many religions, in their own beliefs and books of scripture,
believe that they are the chosen group of God, clearly only by being
linked in some way to the Jews.
As just stated, many religions, in their own religious texts, have
references or beliefs of the Jewish faith being the correct belief of God.
Even in the King James Version of the Bible, there are scriptures that
lead one to believe that Judaism and the Jews are God’s people. For a
quick example, Israel's character as the chosen people is set by
obedience to God's commandments. "Now therefore, if you will obey
my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a peculiar
treasure unto me above all people. For all the earth is mine: and you
shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation" (Exodus
19:5, 6). Another passage that strikes me that the King James Bible
insists that Judaism is the religion of choice is in Deuteronomy, 7:7;
"The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because you
were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all
people; but because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep
the oath which he had sworn unto your ancestors." Many of the
Covenants in the Bible, are repeated many times throughout the book
of Jeremiah, and states that the Jewish people of Israel are God’s
Chosen people.

All of these facts clearly show that even if some theological
beliefs are misconstrued, many… if not all, point back to Judaism as
being the chosen religion. This belief somehow is not shared by all,
possibly due to a deep sense of ethnocentrism or resentment against
God’s children. Jealousy is a powerful thing, powered by evil itself, and
can persuade many into damnation. Luckily, the Jews know what is
going on and they have the ways to prove it. After writing this paper,
even I’m tempted to switch to Judiasm!
With Israel being the land of God’s Chosen people, wouldn’t
everyone want to inhabit that land? Over thirty times has Israel been
invaded and taken over by different empires. The wars have lasted
since around the beginning of civilization, and still continue to this day.
The theory of having such a promised land is the controversy that
nearly the entire world is involved in.
